1. SELECT SETUP LOCATION

A) A CONCRETE OR BLACKTOP SURFACE IS REQUIRED FOR PROPER SETUP. THE SURFACE SHOULD HAVE NO MORE THAN 2 INCHES OF UNEVENNESS FOR BEST RESULTS. THE SURFACE SHOULD BE FREE OF DAMAGE TO INSURE THAT THE FOOT PADS DO NOT DEPRESS INTO THE SURFACE. NOTE: THE HLD IS DESIGNED TO SLIDE IF STRUCK BY A HEAVY VEHICLE WHILE LOADING OR UNLOADING THE DOCK. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE FOOT PADS ARE NOT CONSTRAINED FROM SLIDING IN ANY WAY.

2. UNPACKING PROCEDURES

A) HIGH LINE DOCK MODELS 545, 546, AND 547, ARE SHIPPED ON TWO SKIDS. THESE SKIDS REQUIRE AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE AND A FORK LIFT TO UNLOAD. NOTE: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN UNLOADING THE SKIDS. SOME PIECES ARE CONCEALED WITHIN OTHERS AND MAY NOT BE SEEN AT FIRST GLANCE.

B) USING A 4K FORKLIFT UNLOAD THE SKID WHICH CONTAINS THE CONVEYORS. PLACE ALL PARTS THAT LOOK ALIKE IN SEPARATE PILES. LEAVE THE CONVEYORS ON THE SKID.

C) NOW, USING A 4K FORKLIFT, UNLOAD THE SKID WHICH CONTAINS THE SUPPORTS. STAND THE SUPPORTS UPRIGHT ON THEIR FOOT PADS. PLACE ALL PIECES THAT LOOK ALIKE IN SEPARATE PILES. UNLOAD THIS SKID COMPLETELY.

3. SETTING UP SUPPORTS

A) USING A 4K FORKLIFT RAISE THE SUPPORTS OFF THE GROUND AND ADJUST THE FOOT PADS (ITEM 1) ALREADY LOCATED IN THE SUPPORTS (ITEM 2) TO THE DESIRED HEIGHT. (NOTE: THE TOP OF THE BOTTOM NUT ON THE FOOTPAD MUST BE SET A MINIMUM OF 4 INCHES ABOVE THE PLATE. THIS WILL MAKE THE DOCK HEIGHT 45 ¼ INCHES). SNUG BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN FOOT PAD NUTS.

B) PLACE ALL 7 SUPPORTS (ITEM 2) APPROXIMATELY 8 FT. APART FROM EACH OTHER IN THE DESIRED SETUP LOCATION.

C) CONNECT THE REMAINING SUPPORTS (ITEM 2) TOGETHER USING HORIZONTAL BRACES (ITEM 3) AND HORIZONTAL BRACE ENDS (ITEMS 3B AND/OR 3C DEPENDING ON MODEL). HORIZONTAL BRACE ENDS HAVE TWO HOLES ON ONE END. THESE HOLES WILL ALIGN WITH THE TWO BOTTOM HOLES LOCATED ON THE END SUPPORT LEGS. HORIZONTAL BRACES (ITEM 3) WILL GO IN BETWEEN THE TWO END SECTIONS OF THE DOCK. USING THE BOTTOM HOLES LOCATED ON THE SUPPORT LEGS, BEGIN AT ONE END OF THE DOCK AND SECURE THE HORIZONTAL BRACES AND HORIZONTAL BRACE ENDS USING 5/8 INCH BOLTS AND NUTS (ITEM 18). SNUG BOLTS BUT DO NOT TIGHTEN.

D) (MODEL 546 ONLY) AT THIS TIME YOU MUST DETERMINE WHICH END YOU WILL POSITION THE SPECIAL SIDE ENTRY END SECTION. LOCATE THE TWO HORIZONTAL BRACES THAT ARE 10" LONGER THEN THE OTHER BRACES. USE THESE TWO BRACES TO CONNECT THE SUPPORTS WHERE THE SIDE ENTRY IS TO BE.

E) RUN A PIECE OF NYLON TWINE FORM THE LEG OF ONE END SUPPORT (ITEM 2) TO THE LEG ON THE OTHER END SUPPORT (ITEM 2). MAKE SURE ALL 7 SUPPORT LEGS TOUCH THE TWINE. THIS WILL INSURE THE DOCK IS STRAIGHT. FINE TUNING WILL BE DONE AT A LATER TIME.

F) USING DIAGONAL BRACES (ITEM 4) TIE THE SUPPORTS INTO THE CENTER OF THE HORIZONTAL BRACE ENDS (ITEMS 3B AND/OR 3C DEPENDING ON MODEL) AND HORIZONTAL BRACES (ITEM 3). THE NOTCHED END OF THE DIAGONAL BRACES (ITEM 4) WILL ALWAYS CONNECT TO THE TOP HOLES OF THE SUPPORT LEGS, AND THE NOTCHED END WILL ALWAYS FACE DOWN. BEGIN AT ONE END OF THE DOCK AND WORK YOUR WAY AROUND. YOU WILL START WITH THE TOP INSIDE HOLE ON THE END SUPPORT AND YOU WILL FINISH WITH THE TOP INSIDE HOLE ON THE OTHER END OF THE DOCK.
